Johnstaff is recognised as one of the leading providers of professional consulting and construction services for the development of laboratory, containment and clean room facilities for the Research sector in Australia and New Zealand. Our client base includes many of the world’s leading institutions.

Our professionals have led the briefing, design, construction, commissioning and certification of a range of facilities in both the human and agricultural research sectors, including PC2, PC3 and even PC4 laboratories, QC2 and QC3 facilities, as well as general laboratories, dry research spaces and complementary teaching and education spaces.

We have led many major developments with multiple Research and Tertiary Education stakeholders.

While a number of these facilities have been delivered as part of new major greenfield developments, many have comprised the expansion or upgrade of existing facilities which are required to remain operational through the course of construction.

Our knowledge of design principles in containment and clean room environments allows us to provide practical advice to design teams in relation to buildability and compliance, whether we are leading the design process as Project Manager, developing functional briefs as Specialist Advisors, providing strategic cost advice as Cost Manager or acting as the client-side builder in our own right.

The experience of our senior practitioners in facility validation (DQ/IQ/OQ/PQ) and certification and routinely working with third party assessors from the Office of Drug Control, Therapeutic Goods Association and Commonwealth Department of Agriculture ensures facilities are designed, built and commissioned once, avoiding unnecessary and extremely expensive downtime for clients’ manufacturing facilities.
