Johnstaff’s role

Johnstaff was initially engaged to develop the Final Business Case. We were subsequently engaged for the design and construction delivery phases. We were responsible for defining the health planning requirements for the Stage 2 expansion, and the integration and connectivity opportunities with the Stage 1 expansion and existing hospital.

Johnstaff confirmed the scope of services for the delivery phase through a functional briefing and by developing schedules of accommodation.

Addressing the issues

The Blacktown Mt Druitt Hospital Expansion Stage 2 further transformed Blacktown Hospital into a tertiary level service by enabling the hospital to meet the rapid projected growth in service demand.

The Final Business Case articulated a clear case for service expansion and capital investment and led to a successful funding bid.

Johnstaff managed the delivery of construction of the major acute services building through a design finalisation and construction procurement methodology under a GC21 contract. As part of the construction planning, we developed and closely managed a complex staging strategy within the live hospital environment to ensure continuity of the hospital’s business.
