Johnstaff believes the future of our business is best served by respecting the interests of all of our stakeholders. Our professional and unpretentious approach in everything we do means we are genuinely invested in helping our people, our clients and the wider community.

We strive to operate in a responsible, ethical and sustainable manner at all times. Demonstrating our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility is extremely important to Johnstaff. We aim to align our business mission, vision, values and systems with the social and economic needs of our stakeholders including the communities in which we live and work. Key areas of Corporate Social Responsibility for Johnstaff are:

People

Our people are critical to our success. We are dedicated to providing an inclusive, supportive, safe and respectful work environment where learning and development are actively encouraged. This allows us to attract the best people, build on our existing knowledge base and provide opportunities for workers to develop their skills. We will continue to offer a flexible workplace that balances the demands of family life with the needs of the business. We do this by promoting flexible working times, a paid Parent Parental Leave scheme and technology that allows our staff to work remotely as demands outside of their work life require it.

Diversity

Johnstaff is committed to offering equal opportunity to all staff and potential staff without discrimination, including gender. As such we are compliant with the Commonwealth Government’s Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012 and report to the Workplace Gender Equality Agency.

Environmental Sustainability

Johnstaff has a well-established Environmental Management System that meets the business and operational objectives, as well legal compliance and requirements. Johnstaff encourage workers, clients and contractors to understand their personal and professional responsibilities and make a conscious effort to deliver high standards of environmental management and performance, and continually improve our overall environmental performance. We continually review our use of energy, water, paper and other resources in order to minimise our impact on the environment. Our commitment to the environment will continue to be challenged through the certification of our systems to meet the requirements of ISO18001/14001: 2015 for Work, Health, Safety and Environment.

Social & Community Objectives

Johnstaff recognises and understands the significance of the local community within which we operate. We aim to enhance our contribution to the community by being sensitive to the needs of local people and groups and promoting ethical and socially responsible procurement. One of the key attractions for staff in working with Johnstaff is the opportunities we provide to delivery complex social infrastructure projects that directly benefit the community whether that be in healthcare, aged care, education or medical research. For this reason we will continue to actively pursue opportunities to play key roles in projects that have clear benefits to our community.

Community Initiatives

Johnstaff is proactive about supporting community initiatives, particularly where our staff are passionate contributors to a cause. Some of the community initiatives we have recently supported include:

  • Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea to raise funds for the Cancer Council of Australia
  • Loud Shirt Day to help give the gift of sight and speech to deaf children
  • Mummy’s Wish Charity to provide support that keeps families functioning during a mother’s cancer treatment, and
  • Smith Family Christmas Appeal to provide toys and books to Australian children living in disadvantage.
