Johnstaff’s Construction Services offering is unique in the Australian and New Zealand construction market. Our offering focuses on complex projects typically undertaken in critical operational environments where our professionals need to work hand in hand with our clients to manage and respond to their business continuity challenges.

As a registered Licenced Builder, we have delivered a vast range of projects under Managing Contractor, Lump Sum, Design & Construct and Construction Management arrangements. Regardless of contracting model we strive to remain on the client’s ‘side of the fence’, ensuring our team remains focused on responding to our client’s day to day operational needs while at all times avoiding the creation of adversarial relationships. We do this by establishing risk allocation arrangements that benefit both parties, particularly by avoiding the need for rework or redesign associated with insufficient existing conditions investigations, detailing or design.

Our team has experience in constructing, commissioning and certifying of a range of highly technical and specialised facilities across the Pharmaceutical, Research, Health, Education, Justice, Aged Care, Commercial and Retail sectors. To maximise the benefits of this experience and expertise our construction professionals offer buildability, staging and design detailing advice and reviews during the design phases of projects. This is typically not possible under traditionally procured projects where hard money contractors only get involved once design is fully completed.

Bringing our Construction Services team into a project early as the client’s construction agent helps drive the planning and design to ensure construction can be undertaken in a way that is efficient, cost-effective and as operationally unobtrusive as possible for our clients. By being involved during design we can fully quantify the risks to both our clients and ourselves, ensuring risk and other contingencies can be minimised as part of pre-construction cost estimates. Our expertise and experience in the commissioning of facilities and associated certification allows us to test the appropriateness of the design before it is put to the trade contractor market.

Johnstaff has a Construction Services system certified to meet the requirements of ISO18001/14001: 2015 for Work Health, Safety and Environment and ISO9001:2015 for Quality Assurance. Our WHSE system has been tailored to reflect the critical needs of constructing in operational facilities and refined to ensure it is efficient for our staff, clients and trade contractors. It also ensures we appropriately manage the risks associated with taking on the responsibilities of a Principal Contractor under WHS legislation.

We have a range of insurances and bank guarantee facilities in place that are flexible to the varying needs of our clients.
